Principal's Message

Welcome to Cameron

Welcome to Cameron Elementary!

I am very excited to continue working with the Cameron Elementary School community as principal. I am entering my 20th year in the field of education and my third year at Cameron. Aside from my teaching credential, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in developmental psychology, two Master of Arts degrees in education, and an Educational Doctorate degree in educational leadership. I look forward to continue working with the staff in our efforts to help students grow academically and socially through the IB units of study. During this 2018-2019 school year, Cameron staff will continue to participate in training and implementing the components of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years’ Programme now that we are in our second year as an authorized IB World School. We are also excited to participate in the district-wide kinder through 4th grade Reading Initiative to ensure that every student leaves fourth grade reading at grade-level. As we analyze student achievement, we recognize that math is an area in which we need to focus; therefore, teachers will be implementing a new math program called Eureka. This program will challenge students, but it will help them understand math concepts more deeply and thoroughly. Knowing that taking care of our bodies is just as important as nurturing our mind, we hope to greatly increase the number of students who participate in the 100 Mile Club.

One of the most important factors that influence student success in school is the partnership between the school and families. With that in mind, we are committed to keeping lines of communication open. We also encourage you to join our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which works diligently to arrange parent volunteers, fundraising, and plan fun family nights. Your membership dues go right back to Cameron students, and we thank you for your support!

I look forward to an exciting year at Cameron Elementary in which every child will grow and develop academically and socially. Thank you for your commitment and support this year.
